My Take: 10/10
Parental Rating: Older Teens and Young Adults
Season 3 takes The Lincoln Lawyer in a very different direction, and honestly, I think that’s what makes it so compelling. While previous seasons balanced legal drama with Mickey Haller’s growing success, this season feels much more personal. The stakes aren’t just professional anymore, they’re deeply emotional.
The story follows Mickey as he struggles with the devastating loss of Gloria “Glory Days” Dayton, a former client who had become much more than just another case. Over time, Gloria earned Mickey’s trust, and he felt a deep sense of responsibility for her well-being. When she is found murdered, Mickey takes the case personally, determined not only to find justice for Gloria but also to confront the guilt and grief that come with losing someone he believed he could protect. As he defends Julian La Cosse, the man accused of her murder, Mickey finds himself pulled into a dangerous web of corruption, hidden agendas, and powerful forces that seem determined to keep the truth buried. What unfolds is a layered legal thriller filled with twists, pressure, and difficult choices. Every episode raises the stakes, and there were several moments where I genuinely had no idea how Mickey was going to find a way forward.
What impressed me most is how the show never loses sight of its characters.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo delivers one of his strongest performances yet, showing us a version of Mickey that feels more vulnerable, more human, and ultimately more relatable. We see the confidence we’ve come to expect in the courtroom, but we also see the weight he’s carrying behind the scenes. That balance makes his performance incredibly engaging.
The Parental Lens
At its core, the story explores integrity. Throughout the season, several characters are forced to make difficult decisions when doing the right thing comes with personal risk. It’s a powerful reminder that character is often revealed when life becomes uncomfortable. For young adults preparing to enter college, careers, or new environments, that message feels especially relevant. How do we stay true to our values when taking shortcuts seem easier? What does integrity look like when nobody is watching?
The season also opens the door to conversations about critical thinking and media literacy. As the case unfolds, information is manipulated, assumptions are made, and appearances often hide deeper truths. In a world where young people are constantly consuming information online, this can spark an important discussion about questioning narratives, seeking facts, and learning how to evaluate what we hear before accepting it as truth.
What I also appreciated was the show’s emphasis on teamwork and trusted relationships. Again and again, we see that success doesn’t happen because of one person’s talent alone. It comes from people showing up for each other, supporting one another, and working toward a common goal. That’s a valuable lesson for teens as they begin building their own communities, friendships, and professional networks.
Another element that stood out to me was the way the season handles family. Mickey’s work increasingly affects the people he loves, especially his daughter. Their relationship highlights something many parents can relate to: the challenge of protecting our children while also being honest with them about life’s realities. The show reminds us that strong families aren’t built on perfection. They’re built on trust, communication, and showing up for one another when things get difficult.
My Final Take
If you’re looking for a smart, engaging show that keeps you invested from beginning to end, The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 absolutely delivers. It’s suspenseful, emotionally grounded, and filled with characters you genuinely care about. More importantly, beneath the legal drama, it’s a story about integrity, resilience, loyalty, and family.
I love when a show entertains me while also giving me something meaningful to think about afterward, and this season does exactly that. It offers plenty of opportunities for conversations with older teens and young adults about ethics, responsibility, relationships, and navigating a complicated world with strong values. And that ending? I definitely wasn’t ready for it. It left me eager to see where the story goes next, and Season 4 can’t come soon enough.
